I watched an F1 documentary last night that first aired about a year ago. It followed the sport from the beginnings, when people died at the rate of seemingly one per week, to today, where there is so much emphasis on safety and there hasn't been a death in 20 years. I wondered how, or if, driving styles have changed, if drivers are more willing to go absolutely flat out, knowing that if they crash, they will likely walk away. The emphasis on safety after Senna's death must have changed the mindset of drivers. Or maybe it didn't. It's hard to know.
There was one quote from Max Mosely, where he said that if you give the driver a choice between two cars, one that is safe, but is two seconds a lap slower than the other, which is dangerous, the driver will always choose the faster car. It's a fascinating insight into the psyche of a race driver.
All that being said, it's obvious that at that speed, there is no time to think, only to react instinctively. I still think Alonso is the best driver on the grid today. Though I'm a Ferrari fan at heart, I will be cheering him on.

Right, i also consider Alonso the best. You must be glad that Ferrari has a strong car this year with Kimi and Vettel. Focusing on the comment of there hasn't been a death in 20 years, i really hope that Bianchi recovers to keep that record going.

I'm not convinced that Kimi and Vettel are the best for Ferrari. I think Vettel hopes that he will be Schumi 2, resurrecting Ferrari from the doldrums as Michael did in the '90s. I don't see it. I don't think that Vettel is as talented as Michael. The proof will be in the pudding this season when he's not driving a dominant car. And I really don't think Kimi's heart is in it, though it's hard to tell with him.
As for Bianchi, I don't see him recovering any more than Michael will, sadly. It won't count as a death, but it will still be a black mark. That was such a freak accident, though, impossible to foresee.

That's Radillion. Eau Rouge is the corner at the bottom.

I would be pretty upset if vettel does that. He has had enough luck up until now,( not saying he lacks talent). Last year kimi didnt like the car and seemed like he was given up before every race.
But on P1 and P2 this year it seems that he is a little more motivated.

That's true, i didn't know that name of the corner, but i didn't say it was Eau rouge, i said it was on top of it/ the top of the hill.

I, and other, call that group of turns with Eau Rouge and Radillion "Eau Rouge Complex".

I believe the film you're talking about is 1. That movie made look at Bernie and Max in a completely different light.
